A hidden gem in the heart of Liverpool where wellness, community, and kindness meet!
If you’re searching for delicious, nourishing food that’s good for your body and the planet, you need to try Humehq, a true hidden gem tucked away on Gradwell Street, just by Liverpool’s vibrant Ropewalks area.

My dad, my English bulldog Ocean, and I spent the most wholesome afternoon here, and it’s safe to say this place has stolen our hearts.
We love exploring Liverpool’s food scene, but every so often, we find somewhere truly special, a place that radiates warmth, care, and community. Humehq is one of those finds.
From the moment we arrived, we knew this wasn’t just another cafe. It’s a haven, a mindful space created with love for flavour, people, and the planet.
Ocean was welcomed like royalty (complete with a doggy station of blankets, rugs, and treats – big paws up from her!)
Our table was beautifully set with fresh flowers and a handwritten welcome note, and we were greeted with the kindest smiles.
Every detail felt so thoughtful, like we were being invited into someone’s home rather than a cafe.
One thing that really stood out was the tables, each one crafted from thousands of recycled chopsticks! They’re absolutely stunning, like works of art. It’s the little touches like this that make Humehq so special… sustainability woven into creativity.
The Food

Humehq is all about wholefoods, sustainability, and soul-nourishing nutrition. Their small but perfectly curated menu offers wholesome breakfasts, brunches, and lunches, plus specialty coffees, vibrant juices, and even organic orange wine.
Everything is made fresh, with a “when it’s gone, it’s gone” ethos that helps to reduce waste, and is something I really appreciate.
The food is vibrant, tasty and very Instagramable!
My dad ordered the Vegan Breakfast, a colourful plate loaded with avocado, mushrooms, tomatoes, tofu, beans, and sourdough. It was his first vegan meal, and he was genuinely blown away! He even admitted he preferred it to a traditional full English.
I had the Thai Red Curry with tofu and rice, and wow… I think I’m officially a tofu lover! The texture was light and fluffy, and the flavours were perfectly balanced, rich, fresh, and fragrant without feeling heavy. Every bite felt energising and nourishing.
We were also treated to a Strawberry Matcha and a Passionfruit Mocktail, both beautifully presented and bursting with freshness. The earthy matcha paired with the sweet strawberry was divine, and the mocktail was tropical and light. As someone who often opts for mocktails, I really value when a place takes them seriously, it’s a sign of thoughtful hospitality.
The Ethos

Hume’s ethos shines in stunning every dish. They use no stabilisers, emulsifiers, colourings, flavourings, or artificial sweeteners, just real, honest ingredients. Everything they serve is meat-free, made with wholefoods, and designed to nourish both body and mind.
What truly makes Humehq special, though, is the heart behind it. The owner, Allan, shared the touching story of how Hume was created to honour his late mum, who passed away in 2024.
Through this beautiful space, he’s channelling that love into something that uplifts the community whilst promoting health, happiness, and connection.
They even host community runs (with a free coffee, matcha, or juice afterwards!) and offer regular deals like 2-for-1 Orange Wine Fridays and student discounts.
It’s clear that Hume is more than a cafe, it’s a movement towards mindful living, kind choices, and genuine human connection.
Liverpool has been crying out for a place like this, somewhere that feels grounded, nourishing, and full of good energy. We left feeling truly grateful.
As Allan explains:
“Hume exists to support the health and wellbeing of the community and the planet through delicious food. We’re anchored around our community, from sourcing local suppliers to working with groups and organisations on events and awareness. Hume is a place where exceptional food meets care and compassion.”
So, if you’re craving vibrant, plant-based food made with kindness, sustainability, and love Humehq is the place to be. It’s not just a cafe… it’s an experience that feeds your soul.
