BATTLE OF THE BARS – YOUR TOP FIVE RATED PROTEIN BARS

The protein bar industry is on the rise and more and more companies are competing, to bring the best tasting bar’s to your shelves. We have narrowed down our top 5 bars that we believe are the best out there. This decision was split into different factors that consisted of taste, texture and macronutrients.

5. MRE BAR By Redcon 1.

Coming in at No.5 is the Redcon “MRE BAR”. This bar was designed not only as a healthier alternative to a chocolate bar, but to combine unique ingredients to make the perfect meal replacement bar. Packing a whopping 20g of protein, 29g of carbohydrates, 9g of fat and only 260 calories per full serving, this is the perfect bar to keep you full and hunger free.

What separates it from other protein bars, is that is uses real food sources. A combination of oats, sweet potato, chicken, salmon, egg, brown rice and many more. The taste is very satisfying considering all these ingredients are included. They come in a variety of great tasting flavours that come with its own uniqueness.

4. The Outright Bar By MTS Nutrition.

Our next favourite bar so happens to be another meal food replacement bar offering a different texture overall. Very similar presentation to a Quest bar, however the taste would leave you craving a box or two.

3. Barebell Protein Bars.

A new yet very popular bar amongst us and daily consumers, takes third place in our rankings. Barebell’s offer an exciting bar that will definitely fit in with your daily macros.

Starting things off with 20g of whey isolate for fast digesting protein, 17g of carbohydrates, 8.7g fat and less that 2g of sugar per bar. This is a perfect substitute for a chocolate bar if you are wanting to save some calories and reduce sugars. With all that being said, the bar itself is a very soft bar with a delicious chocolate dressing that will cure any sweet cravings that may occur. Available in a variety of great tasting flavours and one of our personal favourites, the hazelnut & nougat.

2. PhD Smart Bars.

A worthy candidate to take second place of our top 5 bars, the PhD Smart bar. A bar specifically made to rival standard chocolate bars with the intention of making it a high protein, lower sugar luxury treat.

Averaging 20/22g of protein per full serving and only 1.7g of sugar’s, this is the perfect replacement bar for any fitness enthusiasts looking to take advantage of a guilt free snack for only 240 calories. After sampling each flavour, we noticed each bar delivered a different texture, some were crunchy, some were soft, most importantly they all tasted fantastic. We highly recommend giving these a try when you next pick some bars up.

Last but not least, and the most talked about bar for all the right reasons is the grenade bar. From consumer demand and social media platforms this is a clear winner in our eyes. Leading the supplement bar industry by example, the grenade bar offers a fantastic variety of flavour options for you to decide over which may or may not be a good thing. With the vast amount of flavours and textures available, you can decide which one is your favourite out of all 15 bars.

Each bar contains 20/23g of high quality whey isolate, and sugars ranging between 0.6g/2g per full bar. Whilst containing only 220 calories on average the team were very looking forward to getting our hands on them and trying them together. They went down an absolute treat, very soft and easily digestible. For those reasons we have rated the grenade bar our top bar for consumers around Liverpool.
